I had a few questions about this robot which I could not find on the website.
What size batteries does the battery holder use?
Can the infrared receiver be used with the transmitters as a range/obstacle finder
Does the robot have wheel encoders? If not does the dfrobot wheel encoder kit work for this specific robot? Also will this wheel encoder kit work for the 2wd mobile platform version?
Yes the Infrared transmitters and Receivers can be used to detect and avoid obstacles.
Yes, the DFRobot 4WD MiniQ has encoders based on two reflectance sensors. The DFRobot 2WD MiniQ comes also with encoders.
You can find Obstacle avoidance and Encoders tutorials for the DFRobot 4WD MiniQ on this link.
I did not know that you had a 4wd version of the miniq. My questions were regarding the 2wd miniq. Are the answers the same as for the 4wd version? Also I was not sure if you are able to use the ir transmitter and receiver as a range finder in addition to an object detector.
Yes the answers are the same for the DFRobot 2WD MiniQ.
The IR Transmitter and Receiver can detect objects in front of the robot but we can’t guarantee that it can work as a range finder.
