Hi all, I’ve just ordered the DFRobot kit with the Romeo 328 controller which should work great together.
This is my first robotic kit and my mission is to add an android phone to the car which will stream video from it’s camera and maybe add some voice commands too.
Until then I would like to know if the Romeo 328 is compatible with Oleg’s USB Host Shield which tranforms your board into a Google compatible ADK basically and you have a two way communication established without the problem of bluetooth
Oleg says it is compatible with: UNO and Duemilanove,Mega and Mega 2560
Here is the schematic:

Any thoughts, I desparetely need to know before I spend even more money on this project.
This is Oleg from Circuits@Home.
Current revision of USB Host Shield uses ICSP connector for SPI. It was laid out to fit official Arduinos; from the pictures it looks like ICSP on Romeo 328 board is placed differently - it is closer to bottom row of interface pins. I can’t find Eagle files for Romeo 328, could you please confirm?
Thank you,
Oleg.
Hi seVinci,
Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. The ROMEO w/ATMega328 is essentially a Duemilanove with a bunch of peripherals. If he says the shield works with the Duemilanove, it should work with the ROMEO.
Hope this helps,
Hi mazurov,
Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. We will be adding additional information to the product description shortly. Unfortunately DFRobot does not use EAGLE to make their boards, so all dimensions need to be obtained from the layout. The ICSP was moved to make room for the dual motor controller. If you plan to design an addition to the ROMEO, we would be happy to ask the manufacturer for specific dimensions or whatever else we can do to help.
