The barcode scanner module I received does not look like the product on the product page (robotshop.com/en/barcode-rea … odule.html).

What is pictured on the site:

Furthermore, there is a breakout cable connected to the RS232 end:

My questions are these:

]What power do I need to supply to the breakout cable?/:m]
]What drivers do I need to detect the RS232 port on a computer? (Mac or Linux)?/:m]

Hi,

We have verified our stock and the Barcode Scanners we have are the same as the one you received.
We have contacted the manufacturer to verify with them about the difference between the actual product and the pictures.
We will also update the pictures on our website.

As for power, the Barcode Scanner should work at 5VDC. A 5V wall adapter or a USB to Barrel cable, should do it.
You can use an RS232 to USB adapter.
