I’ve just bought a Devantech USB-I2C adapter from roboshop in France.
Having tried to connect it to the laptop I’m using (HP PROBOOK 430 G4 Windows 10 64 bits) implementing the various methods mentionned in the documentation (installing the ftdi drivers with CDM21228_Setup, or trying the manual method) I just can’t make it.
Even when connecting the adapter to the usb slot, nothing happens execpt the red led turning on, no unknown driver found in the manager,.
Has somebody any clever idea about that? Is there any known issue with this? A fix?
We tried one (RB-Dev-17) from stock and got an interesting situation:
When connected through one of our USB hubs, it did not register at all on the computer. When connected directly from the front or back panel, it showed up right away.
When you connect it by USB, do you get a red LED turning on on the device itself? If so, we recommend that you simply try with a different USB cable and/or different ports until it registers properly. It is possible that some of your ports are unable to register it properly. You may also want to reboot in safe mode and see if it shows up in that mode. It is also possible other drivers are preventing it from showing up / causing conflicts in Windows.
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, the red led lights on the device when I plug it on.
I’ve already used two different cables with the same result (which is no result).
I’ve also tried the two USB slots I have on the laptop.
I’ve tried another laptop I have, once more, with no succes.
But I will go on and let you know.
Maybe I could uninstall other drivers to see whether one prevents the USB-I2C to register properly.
I’ll try to insert and reinsert the module.
If the device powers-up (which the red LED indicates), then the chances of it being defective are actually quite low.
Do you have a desktop you could try it on? We’ve routinely noticed issues with USB hubs and ports that are separated from a motherboard (typical on many laptops, kinda similar to front panel USB ports on desktop computers).
Therefore, trying it with a back port on a desktop might be a good idea. Let us know how it goes!
If it is still not showing signs of life after that, please open a support ticket here. Make sure to mention your order or invoice number and also add a link to this forum topic for context.
Good luck with your product; hopefully it will work out soon!
