Devantech RD03 - 24 Volt Robot Drive System - can it be radio controlled?

Hello, This is probably a silly question - I am new to robot making and am looking at purchasing the Devantech RD03 - 24 Volt Robot Drive System (Devantech RD03 - 24 Volt Robot Drive System - RobotShop) and I was wondering if it could be radio controlled? I would like to control this using a transmitter/receiver.

HI @IzzyM and welcome to our forum.

According to the documentation of the motor driver (https://www.robotshop.com/media/files/pdf/md49-documentation.pdf) it cannot be controlled directly via RC signal.

Currently, it accepts serial communication commands.

However, you could use with it a microcontroller (for example Arduino), which will receive RC signals and then convert them to serial commands which will be sent to this motor driver.

Feel free to ask anything else.

Hello, thank you for your help and for getting back to me so quickly!
Do you have any recommendations for any products that could be controlled directly via RC signal?

Hello @IzzyM and thank you for your reply.

Yes, you can find plenty of these here: Brushed DC Motor Controllers - RobotShop

For example, one of the most popular ones are Sabertooth controllers: Dimension Engineering offers quality electro-mechanical devices that are competitively priced without compromising on quality. - RobotShop

Which one you will choose, it depends on the amperage of the motor and how many motors you will use (one or two).

I hope this helps you.
