What’s your target “RPM” and “Torque” for your project ?
Those are really important to select a motor. The torque will be based on the mechanical aspect of your project.
Any gear motor (with gear reduction) will have high level of noise.
The higher the gear ratio, the more gears inside and the more noise it will make.
The RPM target would be 1000+RPM. Anything above 1000 does not really matter as long as I it can handle running on reduced speed.
Regarding torque im quite blank on how it actually plays out in real life. I need the motor to be able to lift about 2kg, with starts and stops, and changing direction. Could any other motor types be suited?
If it need to lift 2kg. you need to factor any mechanical component connected to it. (pulley / sprocket / lever)
What’s going to be connected to the motor ?
The motor will be connected to a TR8 rod with a shaft coupling. The rod will have a leadscrew on it. The leadscrew will be attached to a small platform(the 2kg). The rod itself will be 50cm ish.
The calculation of force to torque required to lift the weight using a leadscrew is not easy.
If you assembly allows for it, using a “Linear Actuator” might be easier and would not reinvent the wheel.
