Hello,
I am an engineering student and we are working on a robot project at school. We need to make the right choice of actuator for our robot. I have searched on Robot building bonanza which I own as well as resources on this website but couldnt really find my answers.
Actuator requirments: must have Continuous rotational motion, so a motor would be the best choice. We need to be able to keep motor speed constant despite variable loadings. There must be no slip/backlag and we must be able to adjust speeds between robot runs. We plan to use Arduino Mega. The key component is keeping the speed constant at variable loads.
my searches on the net has led me in exploring Shunt DC motors ( which can hold constant speed at various loadings) or stepper motor with microstep controller for a smoother ride. Which would be better for our project? Thanks in advance
