DC model train control

Has anyone tried using a RB-Tys-23 or similar motor driver to run DC model trains? My N-scale train club is looking for a means to run multiple DC powered trains on our club layout where we can walk around while still controlling the locomotives.

Hello @JF1221 !

Great to see you around, that sounds like an amazing project. Well, I haven’t worked with trains but, if you are looking for some information regarding the motor controller and possible applications, I’m gonna try to help you. Following the official web page documentation:

Bluetooth MotorAir is a dual channel DC motor driver board. It can be powered by USB bus or DC power and provides two motor driver ports can drive up to 2 amps per channel. You can control two DC 5-24V motors.

To control your motor in wireless mode, this kit provides free Android and iOS APP for this board. User can use iPhone or Android phone control one or two DC motor easily. Open the APP->Connect Device, use your phone to search for a new Bluetooth device. The module will appear as “MotorAir”. Connect it, and then you can control the motor forward/backward/stop, and you can also set the motor speed in the APP.

If you want control this board via USB port, just remove the Bluetooth Bee module from the board. We have a PC test program can control this board.

Hope this could help you !

With the RB-Tys-23 can each motor be controlled by a different phone at the same time?

Hello @JF1221 !

HC-05 embedded Bluetooth serial communication module (can be short for module) has two work modes: order-response work mode and automatic connection work mode. And there are three work roles (Master, Slave and Loopback) at the automatic connection work mode.

So, the HC-05 is a Master/slave device, and therefore is able to establish a point-to-point communication with other HC-05 modules, can be a master of an HC-06 module, can be a slave of a PC or Smartphone. But the HC-05 can only be connected to one device at a time.

If you need more information, please refer to this Module Description.

Hope this help you!
