Hello All
I recently purchased a Cytron DC Geared Motor IG32E-35K that comes with an encoder. I’ve used a number of other geared motors with encoders (Pololu / Lynxmotion) without problem. However this Cytron one is giving me trouble. I can spin the motor with my Arduino Motor Shield but the encoder never measures anything. I’ve tried it without the motor powered at all. Just the encoder and twisting it by hand. No output. I tried it while spinning the motor. No output.
I do notice the diagram shows a 1kOhm resister from the Vcc. (1) is this completely necessary? None of my other Robot Shop motor/encoders need this. If so Why? (I’m a dumb M.E.) (2) if it is necessary am I conntecting it wrong (I do have one). I have A/B channels directly connected to D2 (Blue wire) and D3 (Purple wire) on the Arduino. The Ground is connected to the Green wire. From the 5V supply on the arduino I have the 1kohm resistor connected before going to the Brown wire on the encoder. Is this the wrong connection?
Thanks for all the help.
