Looking for a low profile kit to maneuver through my crawlspace with very low clearance. Do you have a recommendation for a chassis? I will need a drive kit and control kit as well. Hoping to throw a prototype together quickly to look for termites. Thanks.
Hello @MEngineer33 and welcome to the forum,
Could you give us some approximate measurements?
Do you think a wheeled rover can work or do you need a tracked rover or maybe a hexapod?
Do you have a budget in mind? There are chassis for both hobby and professional applications
Do you want it to be autonomous or do you want to control it remotely?
I will wait for your response so that I can better assist you
I am in hobby mode right now. something cheap, quick and fairly simple. My expertise is in the mechanics, but I would prefer a drop in control system and power system. Or an off-the-shelf model that is ready to go, such as some sort of drone car. I want to control it remotely.
As far as size, I need it as small as possible while still able to send an illuminated color video feed back to the operator from a min of 30’ (telemetry range). Max of 4" tall and and 8" wide.
Budget is roughly $200.
I think a wheeled rover will work, but I expect there to be mud to get through.
Thanks for responding.
Sphero RVR? Maybe a little on the high end of your budget (but possibly used?)
Thanks Ryan. This may be the way to go. For my short term solution I am modifying a toy rock crawler and mounting an action cam. Mk2 may be the Sphero RVR.
The Sphero RVR is a great option but as Ryan mentioned a little higher than your budget. However, you can also find lots of options in the Wheeled & Tracked Robots section of the store. Here are some that might interest you:
Awesome, thanks! I will check these out and see what works best for my application.
