Converting wheelchair

Hello, I work with a group that takes disabled folks hunting and fishing. Our chapter recently had a Quantum Q6 Edge wheelchair donated to us. I have friends who have the track wheelchairs and got to looking at this one and thought, could it be converted with a little ingenuity. The front and back wheels line up with the 2 bigger drive wheels. The motors work on same principle as a track vehicle, when you turn one pulls reverse the other pulls forward. Looking for some brilliant ideas, part numbers, thoughts positive and negative to help on this if possible. Woulod need to be 4 inch tracks, capable of standing up to the 400 lb weight of the chair plus a 200 pound passenger. What are y’alls thoughts?

Try Litefoot ATV tracks - you would only need a pair, but quite a bit of machine work and adaptation.

also worth considering may be tracks from a walk behind snowblower. Depending on your location and the time of year you can get a suitable donor for next to nothing. Theres a guy on youtube with a robot on snowblower tracks driven by two wheelchair motors. it hauls him around on a big farm trailer towards the end of the clip, it’s pretty slick.

the tracks in that video are from a variety of cookie cutter snowblowers sold under the names murray, craftsman, MTD yard machines etc. I’ve found searching for “craftsman 5/24” turns up a lot of parts, pics and info online. I’ve also come to learn that the plastic drive wheels are no longer being made for that particular model, but there’s a company making solid steel replacements for about 80 dollars a pair. The tracks themselves are extremely heavy duty rubber and have a very aggressive tread. They are 4" width.
The rubber tracks are still available new as of this writing should you need to replace them, have to find the other parts on the used market. Best of luck with your project!
