I purchased a couple of Planetary gearmotors (PGM36-264) for a project we are working on and would like information on controllers and other off-the-shelf electronics/software available to run and control the gearmotors using the built-in encoders. My project requires rotating the motors equally in the same direction or equally in opposite directions. They don’t have to follow synchronized motion/path, just end up at the same place at about the same time. Any information or links you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi Tom,
Nice motor choice! I run my robot, ROVer, at 12vdc as well and I’m a fan of the RoboClaw motor controllers (ROVer has 2 to each control 2 motors…for a total of 2 motors) that are all synchronized for their rotations. I chose the RoboClaw because of the support, documentation and community around them - I’ve learned my lesson on earlier projects not to try do reinvent the wheel… too often
I’ve got links to videos of my build below, …the more recent stuff is more interesting
…but a few of the videos that may be of interested related to integrating the RoboClaws are here:

Let me know what you decide… always curious what people are building
Cheers,
Nick.
