Controlling dual drive motors but not using "tank steering"

currently I’m running two JAZZY scooter motors, a sabertooth 2x32 contoller w/cheapo Flysky RC unit. tank steering is pretty straight forward but I want something different. partially because my RC controller doenst have a self centering joystick on both sides, and partially because I think it would be neat.

IE: trying to avoid skid steer/type steering on the controller. ideally want to have one joystick control total speed (forward and back for both drive motors) and the second control either 1.) only one drive side to change directions or 2.) spin both motors in opposite directions to steer. In order to do this it would have to override the first sticks input.

anyway to do this?

thanks!

Hi eciton,

We are unsure what you actually want to do with this setup.
Most people will enjoy the skid-steer of the Sabertooth without making any other modifications.

Some transmitter will allows for “mixing” and you can do mix of different kinds.
For example you could throttle the two channels to full “forward” and mix a negative amount to the channel when the steer is applied.

Might be hard to get it working however.
