Control Linear Actuator Position from 0-10V signal

Hi,

I’m looking for an elegant way to control the extension of a linear actuator using a 0-10V signal from my control system. The linear actuator I have in mind has a potentiometer built in to feed back it’s position. It would be great if the controller was able to sense motor bind as well and stop there, but it’s not a total requirement. I am controlling a greenhouse vent with the actuator and I want to be able to regulate how far it’s open rather than fully open, fully closed.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,

Hi,

We have a couple of linear actuators with built-in potentiometer.

When you say “to sense motor bind”, do you mean detect if the motor is physically impeded ?

IT may be possible to use this driver but some programming may be required. It is made for smaller actuators but they say it may be used for larger ones though some wiring modification may be required and you will need to have a certain understanding of how things work. It won’t be plug and play.

Let us know what you think about this and if you had something else in mind.
