Continuous Servo Motor

Hello,

We just got the HS-485HB delivered, but it seams that it’s limited to 180 degrees, while we need a servo motor that can keep spinning. The 180 degree limitation was not mentioned in the description of the product. Can you please advise on which product is suitable for our use case?

Many thanks! We very much look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,

Uli

Hi,

A standard RC servo has a limited angular range to 180 degrees. That’s the case for the HS-485HB Servo Motor.
We offer continuous rotation RC servos like the Parallax (Futaba) Continuous Rotation Servo which rotates at full speed clockwise with a 1000uS PWM signal and full speed counter-clockwise with a 2000uS PWM signal.
We also offer 360 degrees RC servos like the High Torque Digital Servo Metal Gear MG996R

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

We also need a pulley for an MTX timing belt that we can attach to a servo motor. We bought a “MXLS-01 - Hitec MXL timing belt pulley”, but unfortunately it won’t work for us because our timing belt is on a flat surface and the 3mm outer border of the pulley prevents it to touch the timing belt. We’d need something like the “MXL 90 Tooth Timing Pulley” with the teeth directly on the outer diameter, but with a maximum diameter of 2.5cm.

Could you please suggest a pulley that works for our use case and can be easily attached to a servo (or better directly fits the spline of one of the continuous servo motors)?

Looking forward to hearing back from you,

Best wishes,

Uli

Hi Uli,

Do you have any pictures showing your assembly, that would help us understand the needs.

Hi again,

This is a drawing of our assembly. It shows how the pulley above doesn’t work on a horizontal surface, while the pulley below does work because there is no gap between timing belt and pulley.

We need a pulley like the bottom one, but it should be about 2cm in diameter.

Thank you for your help,
Uli

Hi Uli,

You are using the Belt/Pulley system as a Rack&Pinion system as i can see.
Usually the fixed part would be the Pulley not the Belt.

Your best bet is to use the MXLS-01 and remove the opposite side part as well as grinding the servo side.

All the best,
