Connection Failure with BlueSMiRF RP-SMA

I’ve been having issues with trying to connect the Bluetooth Modem (Bluesmirf RP-SMA) through the Bluetooth Wireless adapter connected to my laptop. I have successfully downloaded the driver, and the computer detects the bluesmirf, but there has not been any connection with it. The red LED where it says “Stat” on the bluesmirf is flashing on and off. But the green LED where it says “connect” fails to flash, so it doesn’t connect. The passkey was enabled and there is a window in my computer that says the bluetooth has successfully connected to my computer. But why hasn’t the green LED flashed?

Sorry I can’t answer your question just yet but I received my BlueSMiRF today and am waiting on my dongle to test it out. Otherwise, I am ready to test with Vista and an SSC-32. Thought I had a dongle already but couldn’t find it today…grrrrr. I ordered one from Sparkfun with 2 day shipping earlier so I will let you know soon how and if I get mine working. Keep trying though and hopefully others will chime in. Check out the stickies in this forum as well. Good luck!

I’ve bought two Blue Smirfs and the USB dongles for them (recommended on this forum elsewhere) from SparkFun. On mine, the flashing GREEN means “waiting for a connection”, and a steady RED means “connected”.

The driver on a laptop can be problematic as to which IBM PC program wanting an RS-232 will work with it. No problems on my tower IBM PC.
