Connect Micro Metal Gearmotor with encoder to i2c

Working on a project with model wind turbine kits. Turbine is 3d printed and I am trying to embed a motor that can either serve as generator or actual motor. Thinking of using the Micro metal gearmotor with encoder but in the past I have needed to solder to get the rpm and power working over i2c with this.

My goal is to have. simple plug and play kit where I can use JST SH and/or Qwiic connectors and interface with M5 stick mini. Need users to be able to assemble as a kit with no soldering and ideally no screw terminal blocks.

Is there a way to do this over i2c with off the shelf breakout boards? Or do I need to build a custom breakout board?

Hello @swbaws and welcome to the RobotShop forum,

I think you missed pasting something here:

If I understand, you need a DC motor controller that works with I2C and is compatible with M5Stick, is that right?

Maybe something like that can work for you?
