Conecting to ssc32

I am having trouble getting my power pod software to recognize my ssc32 :frowning:. i know i have the correct com port and i have been able to talk to the bot board 2 via basic atom pro. do you have any suggestions on what i can try next?

Hi Nate,

Need more information! How is the powerpod program configured? Comm? PS2? Autonomous. If you look at the generated program, what I/O port does it say the SSC-32 port is on. Look for a line like:

SSC32 con p15

Is this the pin you have the connection to the SSC-32 or maybe do you have it on port 8? If so, shange the define to P8 and recompile?

If this is not it, we would need to know things like what baud rate do you have the SSC-32 configured to? Do you have the correct IO line between the bot board and the ssc-32…

Kurt

ok. i hooked up the serial cable to the ssc32 and opened power pod. then i opened the master program h3 vx. 43. then i attemptted to conect the robot using each com port. none of them worked. in response to your suggestions, how do you look at the generated program? how do i know what pin my scc32 is on?

Hi again,

Sorry, but I am not understanding several things here. You said in your first post that you have been able to talk to the BB2/Atom Pro. That is the first hurdle.

Are you building one of the Lynxmotion hex robots? If so which one? Have you been following the instructions/tutorials? If so which one are currently using and what step are you at? My guess is that you may or should be using: the complete tutorial. Is this correct? Are you at step 3?

Here is a link to the online version of the SSC-32 users guide

If you are trying to connect the Powerpod program to the SSC-32, as you mentioned in the previous response you moved the serial cable from the PC to the SSC-32. What power are you supplying to the SSC-32 board? What jumpers are on the SSC-32. In particular what baud rate is the board set to? Are the jumpers RX/TX jumpers installed? (area 14 in the diagram from the SSC-32 manual) If you choose the right serial port on your pc and click the setup button in powerpod does it now see the SSC-32? When you turn on the SSC-32 does an LED light on the board come on?

Sorry I can not be of more help?

Kurt

I am using the bh3-r hexapod. i have been following the instructions up to the point where it instructs me to connect to the ssc32 via power pod. i am using the 9 volt and 6 volt battery. i have installed the jumpers as the instruction said. how do i check my baud rate? i do have black and yellow jumpers instaled to area 14 of the diagram. when i attempt to connect in other softwares such as the LynxTerm and serial port control pannel it connects with the ssc32. power pod however does not  :frowning:

Connect the SSC-32 to the PC using the serial cable to use PowerPod. You can’t have the (black and yellow) data cable connected to the Bot Board and expect the PC to be able to talk to the SSC-32…

i think i have it setup correctly, but i still cant connect. i was wondering if i have to download a program to the bot board 2 using atom befor i can get it working. if not what is it for? what is atom for? :frowning:

also when i attatch the 9 volt, my bot board 2 beeps. when i first assembled it my 6 volt larger battery would make it beep before i got my 9 volt attached. now my 6 volt doesnt seem to have any affect when i attach it. is this normal?? :open_mouth:  :frowning:

I’m confused…

Are you trying to get your SSC-32 to work? this was your original question.

If you have both the SSC-32 and the BB2, set the BB2 aside for now and focus on only one thing. We need more information like are you using a USB to serial adaptor? What are your current jumper settings? How do you have your power connected? Can you post a clear photo of your setup so we can look at it?

Help us help you…

Nate, you are all over the place here. You need to attach the SSC-32 to the PC so PowerPod can talk to it.

The Bot Board does not need to be connected at all to do this.

The Atom does not need to have a program installed to do this.

The Data cable (black and yellow) must NOT be installed to do this.

The SSC-32’s baud rate must be set to 114.2k to do this. The baud rate settings are listed in the tutorial.

We are going nowhere here. Please post images of your wiring so we can SEE what the heck you have connected…

sorry about the confusion  how do i attach a picture?
i have the black and yellow unpluged. what is the bot board for then? im very confused about this system

The Bot Board is used to read the PS2 controller to know where to move the legs for walking, etc. Before PowerPod can create the file for you, it needs your help to align the servos precisely. This is why you are connecting PowerPod to the SSC-32. Just follow the instructions in the tutorial. If you have a question please ask it in relation to the tutorial. I.e. I have followed the tutorial to step 7 (or whatever) but I don’t understand the next step. Then we can more easily help you. Ok?

OH!! thank you for clarifying. so once i connect my ssc32 and do the moter thing, i download a program to the bb2 to make it walk. now i just have to see if i can connect it.

i have now been able to connect the ssc32  when i try to program the bb2 with the generated program the basic atom displays multible error messages such as #48 & 49 unknown command line 162-165

wat can i do to fix this?

yay!! it works!! im having lots of fun stomping around my basment!!
