Computer interface

I have a Robotic arm with the USB interface. I get a message that says that the usb interface is disconnected and that the battery is not connected. I checked the voltages at the black terminal (+3volts) and and the red terminal (-3volts) on the red terminal with the orange terminal as the ground. I am using windows 8. I do hear a response on my computer when I turn the switch off and on on the robotic arm. I do not see the light go on. I have used the basic program to try to control the arm.

Can you suggestion some ways I can get the arm to work.

Hi Irvin,

Could you please specify which Robotic Arm you have ?
We see that you purchased the Nao H25 Humanoid

Regards,

It is the Robot Arm with USB PC interface. I just have the assembly manual and computer disk. I cannot find a part no. or serial number

Is there any name on the arm itself or on the assembly manual ? Could you provide us a picture or a link to the product page?

Enclosed is a picture of the qssembled device and a picture of the assembly instruction manual.

Hi Irvin,

Your Robotic Arm is very similar to the OWI-535 Robotic Arm Edge (RB-Owi-41) :
robotshop.com/en/owi-535-rob … -edge.html

However, this OWI-535 is controlled by a wired remote with which you can add a USB interface to control it via a PC :

Maybe the USB interface manual can help you :
User Manual - 32-bit Computers
User Manual - 64-bit Computers

Regards,

I am getting error messages when I try to install the drive ELAN(USB). My arm is controlled only by the USB interface on a PC. Perhaps you have an updated driver (ELAN) for windows 8 64bit on a toshiba

I have successfully made the robot arm work under Windows XP. The problem with Windows 8 is that the ELAN(USB) driver is not being installed correctly. Could you give me the instructions to install ELAN under windows 8. Then everything will be fine.

In surfing the web I found that there is a question of whether there is support for a 64bit Windows 8 system for the Robot Arm. I f this is the case then I would need an update to my disk to include a download of the ELAN driver to support to support a 64 bit Windows 8.

Hi,

Have you tried to disable driver signature verification on Windows 8 ?
howtogeek.com/167723/how-to- … d-drivers/

If not, try to disable signature control of drivers and reinstall the driver for Windows 7

Regards,

Problem 1: My Toshiba Windows 8 would not allow me to change the signature verification. Is it possible to send me an ELANUSB that has the proper signature verification.

Problem 2: I was able to install the robot arm on my windows xp system, but I get a double image of the arm in the basic and programming modes. I can make the arm work but the double image makes it unattractive and difficult.

I am resubmitting my 2 questions because I did not understand your response.

  1. Can you send me a proper signature verification module for ELANUSB for windows 8?

  2. What do I have to do to get a single image of the robot arm picture on my windows xp system?

Hi,

  1. This link may help you to get your Robotic Arm working with Windows 8 : lewisbenge.net/2013/09/20/in … botic-arm/
  2. Can you provide a picture (a screenshot) showing the interface on Windows XP ? Did you try to reinstall the interface ?

These are three images illustrating the doubling of the robot arm images on windows xp. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program without success

Thank you for the photos of the interface. Now that we know you have a 535 Edge arm, the manufacturer requests that you contact them directly for troubleshoooting:

Hi,

It’s probably a display problem or a graphic card incompatibility. You might want to update your graphic card driver and download the last version of Adobe Flash Player.
