Completely new in robots and need small help

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

So, I need to create a small robot-y thing which can take input from 2 cameras and apply an algorithm which determines how much a wheel is to be rotated.

What types of things do I need to learn and what would be physical requirements for it?

The wheel which is to be rotated is made of metal and is size of a 10 year old’s fist.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hello @vikasvikas121 !

Could you explain me a little more about your system requirements please? The two cameras would be settle above your robot? and thus, you need to extract how much you need rotate and move forward? that’s it?
Which will be the goal of your robot? what purpose does it have?
I’ll be waiting your answer

Hi @vikasvikas121,

Sounds interesting

But could you draw a simple sketch of your robot-y thing and post it here?

It doesn’t have to be a master piece but it would help us a lot

Hi @vikasvikas121,

Why don’t you mount a sonar sensor near the wheels edge?

Another way would be to use a flex sensor on the axle?

Another way would be to use a rotary encoder affixed to the axle via a rod affixed to the edge of the encoders knob which will turn the encoder as the wheels axle turns. (Could possibly involve gears for more accuracy)

Your idea of using two cameras to detect the angle is rather inefficient use of the cameras.
