CNC Dust extraction recommendations

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Shapeoko CNC machine from robot shop. I wanted some advice on dust extraction. We plan to build a small box around the machine to help this but either-way will mainly be cutting softwood/ hardwood, but may occasionally cut acrylic and aluminium. Do I need a Class M dust extraction system? - would this extract the metal or would I need something different for this?

The Shapeoko comes with their own Dust Boot called Sweepy, which comes in three sizes:

  • 65mm for the Carbide Compact Router, Makita, and some 800W spindles
  • 69mm for the Dewalt
  • 80mm for users with water-cooled spindles

Both Sweepy 65 and 69 feature a 36mm (D) dust port suitable for a Festool, Fein, or similar shop vacuum and the 80mm version has a 2.25" (OD) port.
