I have question in regards to the climbing strength of the A4WD2 rover.
If the rover was mounted vertically on linear bearings with wheels firmly contacting the surface, would it have enough strength to climb vertically with a 2 to 3 lb payload?

This has not been tested, but even so - really doubt it can do anything above a 30% incline. It’s simply too heavy, there won’t be enough friction between the tires and the surface, and the motors are not powerful enough.
If you can tell us more about your project, perhaps we can suggest a different approach.
