CHR-3 Beginer

Hey all,

I have a couple quick questions and can’t find answer yet in the forum posts. I figured I would just put out post and see if anyone had any thoughts.

First. I tried to find the right 6v 1600ma battery but to no avail and ended being told by the dude at Radio Shack that 4 AA’s would be cool. So When I used those it would turn on but only a couple legs would twitch on “all 1500”. When i tried to calibrate the legs nothing would happen…

So I read in the manual that it could handle up to a 9v battery. So I wasn’t totally sure but couldn’t handle waiting on mail order one so I went out and the best fit I could find is a 7.2 2000ma Ni-Cd. Am i going to fry my servos or boards?

But now it works. The legs all jump to home on all 1500 and I can calibrate the joints with the Power Pod app. But that’s it. I went through the whole calibration and saving deal and now nothing. When i try to load the Atom app onto the Bot Board II but it says it has com port problems.

When I try to deug it says
error: Available memory on device is exceeded

When i try to “program” in the Basic Micro Adam app it says Can not connect

  1. check comport settings
  2. check serial cable
  3. check power

I am using the Gigaware usb to serial adapter with my Dell XPS 1550 laptop.

thanks for any help

alkaline may not provide the required current. But to make the matter worse the little black plastic battery holders with their tiny little wires will never be able to carry the required current.

6.0vdc is the recommended voltage for the servos. 7.2 will not “fry” them, but it will shorten their life and may cause a gear to be broken.

The best way to get help is state which step in the tutorial you are having trouble with. Which IDE are you using? Have you used the serial to usb successfully before?
