I put some serious thought into making something out of these. The problem I found, was that their range of motion is very limited. Also the space requirement for them when inflated is an issue. They also don’t allow any easy means of postioning. You would have to use an air valve that allowed variable flow controlled by a controller of some sort. Even then you would need a pot on the joint or something to give some feedback as to how much it has actually moved depending on the load it is moving.
Basically I decided it was jsut beyond my programming abilities to make something useful out of them. They do look cool on Sonny, the Irobot guy though.
You can make your own pretty much. Find the fabric used or similar and put some tubes on either end and seal it up. not worth 200cad imo.
thats right
you can
i have this book that shows you how
and all you need to do is cut a piece of tubing off a bike pump
and seal it up on one end
and then add air to the other end
its that simple
its not worth 200$
Simple polyethylene sleeving for protecting wire bundles (Like the coloured ones you can buy to spruce up the interior of your computer) and latex tubing (even animal twisty balloons) works great. I’ve made a bunch of these actuators.
Try using Propelene glycol intead of air. Much easier to meter/control…
ok thanks, but those look realy powerfull, of course I wouldn’t pay 300$ for it
