Cheap binary motor control?

I am looking for some way to get cheep (<$300, or even better <$200 for 2 sides) binary motor control that can handle a continuous load of +70 amps at 36 volts and must have a fast response. Preferably something I can easily plug into a lynxmotion bot board with a basic atom chip and control. For similar but smaller project I used a Radio Relay with much success. When I tried to figure it out using a series of relays and (high quality) solenoids it didn’t come out much cheaper than a motor controller and I fear that the solenoids will not have a fast enough response time.

Any ideas?

I just had a quick look around and found this site:

If you look under Electronic controllers, they have rebuilt speed controllers that can handle very high current for around the price you suggested. It looks like they need an old broken one from you though, so I don’t know, I guess you could ask about it.
There is also these ALLTRAX AXE controllers but I don’t know how any of these are controlled. I guess you’d have to find some info on them.

While some of those could be an excellent deal for really big projects they would not be a good choice for what I need seeing as would need 2 ($400-$700) for diffenthal starting and they all appear to have a bunch of variables I don’t want to deal with on this project. They are also have analog control and are a lot more than I need.

Although they could be very useful in larger projects that require analog control.

Perhaps you should give more explination as to what “binary control” is. You might look for contactors used for starting AC compressors and such. What is your expected duty cycle?

By binary motor control control, I mean Full Counter clockwise, stop, and full Clockwise, on or off.

Duty cycle is < 3 minutes on with an unspecific amount of time off amount of time off.

This is for a 150 lbs sumo bot.
