Charge 6V NiMh (BAT-05) with charger labeled 7.2-8.4V?

Hello!

I’m new to this forum and have used the search function with no success, so here come my first newbie-thread

I baught some Lynxmotion BAT-05 6V battery packs for a gigantic (Ok… maybe not gigantic, but still pretty big) servo based articulated arm. The only problem was that I couldnt find any NiMh/Cd charger for 6V.

Allthough I did find a NiMh-charger with output labeled 7.2 - 8.4 V scrapping around, would this work to charge the 6V BAT-05?
I noticed the specifications for BAT-05 nominal voltage read 7.25V.

Thanks!

You can’t charge a 6vdc battery with a charger designed for a 7.2-8.4vdc battery. The charger will think the battery never gets fully charged…

Thanks for your reply. I think I’m gonna have to buy a charger specificly for the 6V NiMh

I’m not very experienced with dealing with NiMh batteries, but am I right assuming 6V NiMh are charged with strictly 6Vdc and not anything over it? Hence the charger mentioned earlier had an OUTPUT of 7.2 - 8.4Vdc, it wasn’t clear what battery packs it was designed for (# cells and so on-?).
