Chain drive changing to gear drive

Hi…I make deep drop electric fishing reels…At present they are 1/4 chain driven using sprockets… Say 48 tooth on the motor to 16 tooth on the spool…Motor is 65 rpm and 8 mm shaft…Spool is also 8 mm shaft and need …With this system is to bulky and need to get cog or gears to mesh together and do the same driving…Motor is 65 rpm and need spool to be at least 180 rpm…Kindly advise what cog or gears i can use…Cheers Philip in New Zealand

Hi @PhillipCollis and welcome to our forum!

Maybe a drawing or a some kind of schematic would help us understand which system you currently have and what you want to achieve.

Thank you

Hi @PhillipCollis

Thank you for the photo.

It is hard to choose the correct gears without knowing exact dimensions of the shafts, hubs and similar.

Hi

Motor is 36-555 at 65 rpm 8 mm shaft…Spool is 80 mm diameter and also 8 mm shaft…
motor has 48 tooth sprocket and spool has 16 tooth to increase spool speed by about 3 times…

Low rpm means higher torque so haul in fish is easy…But i want to do a direct drive and remove chain drive…Phillip
