I manage a cat rescue in a former zoo in Pa. I have been trying to come up with something to hang from the ceilings to attach a single laser light to for cats to have something to do and exercise. I would like to also have timer capabilities.
They sell battery operated ones on Chewy, but that gets expensive and they are constantly knocking them over and you have to manually start them. Any ideas. I know this is out of the ordinary but thanks.
Hello @bufert and welcome to the RobotShop community,
I’m not sure if it would be less expensive or not but you could use a pan and tilt kit, you can find some options in the Direct Drive Pan & Tilt Kits and the Pan & Tilt and Gripper Assemblies sections. Note that some of these do not include the servos (this is mentioned it in the descriptions as well as some information about which servos are compatible). You will also need a power source like a battery pack. Battery capacity determines how long the servos will work. You’ll also need a battery charger that works with the battery chemistry you choose.
If you want to control it remotely you could use a RC/PWM Servo Controller (some of these already include the receiver for the servos). Or if you simply want it to repeat the same actions you could use a microntroller and a motor driver (but you would have to do some programming) or a Servo Programmer (this one only works for Hitec digital servos).
I hope this information can help you!
