Is is possible to cascade two linear actuators(firs one servo and second one soleniodal) such that you give input to the servo and get output actuation from the soleniodal actuator ?
If so , how do you do it, in a hardware sense?
The reason for this is to kind of balance out the controlability and linear characteristics of the servo with the higher acceleration, force and very low controlability and non linearity of the solenoid.
I realize that the setup would become bulky but ignoring that, it is possible and feasible to do?
Normally solenoids do not provide positioning - they are simply on/off. As such, the “input” would really just need to be a button.
Also, linear actuators are not back-driveable, so you cannot manually extend or retract using force. You would need a simple linear potentiometer.
If this does not answer your question, can you describe in a bit more details exactly what you want as input, and what you want as output?
