Carrying weight of 4WD Hercules Mobile Robotic Platform

Hi,

I am interested in buying the **4WD Hercules Mobile Robotic Platform **product code **RB-See-294.
**Can you please tell me the total carrying weight of this robot, i.e upto how many kilos can this robot carry.

The payload capacity depends on the angle (flat surface or slightly inclined) as well as the weight of the battery used. Note too that the surface will impact its ability to rotate. The manufacturer does not provide an exact payload capacity. As you can see in the description, it can support the weight of a small water cooler bottle and travel in a straight line on a flat surface. For more practical applications, we suggest you keep the additional payload to a few kilograms.

As Coleman points out, that robot chassis turns via differential turning - where his left and right wheels go in opposite directions …as would a tank on tracks, for example. Weight a big factor.

I actually experienced that with ROVer, which you can see in the video below, where I thought that he’d be able to do a differential turn - not a chance with his weight!

What sort of weight are you trying to carry?

Cheers,

Nick.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I am trying to making a moving platform with this robot. This moving platform would then be used for autonomous take-off and landing of a UAV. The UAV has a total take-off weight of around 4kgs.
I am curious to know if this robot can carry a weight of around 4-5kgs of a UAV.

Thanks again.

What terrain would the robot travel on, and do you need to turn on the spot or can the turns be gradual?
5Kg is quite a large / heavy drone - have you already built it?
