Can't find SSC-32 Card?

When I bring up the SEQ, it tell’s me that it can’t find the SSC-32 card! I have everything plugged in and there’s power going through my bot. When I plug the USB in (I bought an adapter) it tells me it doesn’t recognize the device. Any ideas? I hope the SEQ doesn’t need internet access for some odd reason, we don’t have it hooked up to the laptop I’m using.
Thanks! 8)

did the usb adapter come with any drivers? that is what it sounds like your missing.

This post should be called Can’t find USB adaptor.

I found the cd hidden in the packaging. I installed that and tried the SEQ to work again, but it still gave me the same error. I didn’t get to play with it though, I had to study :imp: Stupid AP Govt :stuck_out_tongue:

Solved the problem. After installing the firmware from the USB adapter and changing the port from COM 3 to COM 4, everything works fine. Now to figure out how to save the sequences and save them

I am having the same “Can’t find SSC-32 Card” problem. I have downloaded all of the drivers for my USB to serial adapter. I have tried plugging the servos into the wall power and the VL with a 9V battery and also with a power supply. I have no idea what is wrong with this, but does anyone know how I can get it working?

Problems back again. I can’t get the laptop to recognize it. I’ve gone through the manual for both the SSC-32 and Bot Board and have had no luck. I tried to set up the jumpers like pictured, but I have a feeling I’m doing something wrong. I’m trying to program a little six servo biped. Any help is appreciated! 8)

Try another PC

Plug your USB->DB9 adapter into a port that you know the name of (i.e. “COM4”).
Stick the SSC-32 into the other end and supply VL with a fresh 9V (green LED should stay lit).

Click on Start->Control Pannel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->Ports(COM&LPT)
Then doubleclick the name of the port that the SSC-32 is plugged into.

Click on Port Settings and adjust the port settings as follows:
115200
8
None
1
None

Try the SEQ again.

If that doesn’t work, go back to where you were in the last step and click on Advanced.
If the “FIFO” buffers are checked, uncheck them.
If they are unchecked, check them.

Try the SEQ again.

If it still doesn’t work, go back to where you were before and click Restore Defaults.
Then give up and try another computer.

By the way, what USB->DB9 cable are you using?

I’ve tried my computer and it came up once. Problem is I have my computer hooked up to my TV in my room and the resolution is crap. So I have to get a new TV with S Video if I want to do something with it.

I’m using the Dynex DX-UBDB9 adapter. I removed the driver today and will reinstall it in a bit to see if it works.

YOu need to check the setting on the cable as well, make sure it is on com4 and do what Nick said.

I got the cheap on from radio shack tonight (was shocked that my new laptop didnt have a DB9 plug) loaded the drivers, plugged it in and installed it. No problems.

I tried what Nick said, but to no avail. I’m going to be setting my stuff aside for awhile anyways, since I am heading down south Sunday for a big national event.

When I get back, I’m going to try the computer in my room and possibly the one I’m typing off of right now.

Hi

I use to have a similar problem a couple of weeks ago with my SSC-32 board. i was using a DB9 to serial cable and found that when ever i tried to send a command the led of the board didn’t light up. from this i figured it was a communication error. so what i did was change to using a DB9 to DB9 cable and all of sudden it worked. i don’t know if you want to try that. it may or may not work in your situation.

p.s. if you do try it make sure that one side of the DB9 has pins in it and the other plugs into pins. the one i got was called: Serial Cable/Data Cable DB9 Male to DB9 Female 3Mtr Extension Cable.
