Can't decide which hexapod should I get

Hi there,

My name is Mike. I’m studying Mecharonical Engineering at my university and i’m thinking about getting a hexapod to learn some basics of animatronics.
I’ve google-searched most of the shops out there but still couldn’t decide which one should I get.
As a student my budget is really tight so Lymxmotion’s products maybe out of my reach. Let alone trossen robotics’s PhantomX series.
Ideally I want a hexpaod that’s in the range of $300 to $500(servos included), has robust mechanical parts and servos, and easy to program.

I’ve found some Chinese sellers in Aliexpress but they never reply my emails.

This one is amazingly cheap (hardware only)and it seems too good to be true, I was wondering if anyone here ever purchase from this seller?

Another option is robofac.com/shop/hexapod/deep-in … xapod-kit/ . They have this complete hexapod kit about $500. I saw the picture of this kit coming up in someone’s twitter post so I went ahead and checked it.

They have some nice pictures there but still I was unsure about how trustworthy the seller is. Anyone here ever purchased from robofac?

I’m totally new to this community. I hope I did not break any rules by posting the seller’s link. Let me know if I did anything inappropriate.

Cheers.

Why not choose the Hexy? It’s one of the least expensive hexapod kits available.
There’s also the Lynxmotion Mini-Hex MH2U, MH2 (FlowBotics) or AH2.
In terms of size and support, the AH2 is a great option, supported within this community, and within your budget.

CBenson, Thank you very much for your reply.
Hexy looks amazing and I bet it’s very fun to play with, but I’m probably need a more robust hexapod platform that I can add some features on like wifi camera or robotic arms.

The AH2 would then be your best option - it even has mounting holes for an AL5 arm.

Note that you’ll need a battery and charger, and the PS2 remote is optional.

AL5 robot arms:

It’s an easy to use hexapod platform, very durable and great size.
You can also upgrade the legs to be 3Dof rather than 2Dof, change the body panels etc.
