Can't build Lynxmotion Pan and Tilt kit

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

Description:
I have been trying to follow the instructions here for my Pan and Tilt kit, but I’ve run into an issue: I can’t put in the rivets with the bracket present (Can’t push the servo rivet-holes far out enough to put in the rivets), so I can’t actually assemble it.

Hardware concerned:
Lynxmotion Pan and Tilt Kit / Aluminium

Software concerned:

Troubleshooting steps already taken:
Already tried looking for any tutorial videos or manuals, but all give very basic instructions that do not help. I also tried to put in the servo and rivets before the bracket, but that didn’t work either, as I needed to remove the servo head to facilitate the addition of the bracket and therefore cannot reattach it.

Additional information:

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hi YaKh,

Do you have any pictures showing the issue you have with the rivets ?

Thanks

Sure, here’s an image of my attempt to follow the instructions:

As you can see, I attached the rivets to the Servo, then tried to attach it to the multi-purpose bracket and as you can see I couldn’t get it in. I don’t know if I’m missing something, or whether the rivets have to be attached when the servo is already within the multi-purpose but I’m at loss at how I would do so. Apologies if the answer is simple but I don’t really know what to do at this point.

The product description says that the kit contains

  • 1 x Aluminum Multi-Purpose Servo Bracket Single
  • 1 x Aluminum ‘‘C’’ Servo Bracket Single
  • 2 x HS-422 Servo motor
  • Hardware (Screws and Nuts)

Is anything missing from your set? Have you got all these parts? Hope robotshop will guide you to the right direction soon.

To add some clarity here is the sequence in CAD drawings:

Ah, so I’m meant to just push in the rivets? I assumed you had to attach their mid area to the servo to allow for extra security. Or perhaps it means to disconnect the two parts of the rivets, then insert the bottom half first, then the top part after. Anyhow, thank you so much for your help

Edit: Those instructions don’t seem fully possible with the instructions that I was provided, as since the bracket needs to be installed first, you would have to slide the servo in vertically

YaKh,

I personally did this assembly to show you how to use the rivets, this morning.
Just drop the servo in the location and then insert the rivets.
