Can the DFRobot Gravity Analog Waterproof Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor be buried and installed horizontally in the dirt?

Hello all,

As the title says can the DFRobot Gravity Analog Waterproof Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor be buried in the soil and can it be horizontal while in the soil. I dont want to average the soil moisture from top to bottom but across the bottom where my root system is. Will these sensors hold up being used this way.

Any information or other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This sensor is not intended to be used in that way

But you can still try it and see which readings you would get
