I popped open and old electric beard trimmer and grabbed the motor in it. It has the + and - cable, but they just connect to a board with some transistors on it and what not, and then the input for the power plug that goes into the wall (120v).
Assuming I have the right batteries, can I use the SSC-32 to control this motor. Is this motor a DC motor? I think it is. Is there a way to find out how strong it is? There is a blue then green strip on it, does that indicate anything?
I did purchase 4 continuous rotation servos from this site, so I guess I’m covered there.
Are there any issues when using a USB To DB9 Serial Cable? It’s not 2 cords, but one (both male ends). It’s cheaper for me to buy these rather than serial cables and a serial pci card for my PC. I plan to use a mini laptop for a brain later so I’d have to move to usb anyways.
I bought a couple of cheap Chinese USB to serial converters (transparent blue ends and silver cable) but never could get them to work, they wouldn’t even loop back with a loopback plug fitted.
Some work better than others. Some don’t work at all. Search the site for USB and you’ll find more than a couple threads where this has been discussed at length, probably even including a recomendation or two on which ones are known to work well.
