Can I replace the IR sensor with something else?

I’m looking to buy robotshop.com/eu/en/dfrobots … t-kit.html

I don’t have any use for the IR sensor. Could I replace it with another sensor or a camera or is the robot or hardware somehow on the IR sensor being on the robot? Sorry if this seems painfully obvious but I’m new to robotics

If you do not need one or more of the components, it’s best to simply purchase another DFRobotShop Rover kit and add the components you want.

Since the robot is based on the Arduino Uno, you can use almost anything which is compatible with Arduino.
If you’re considering adding a shield, be sure the pins used on the shield do not overlap with those used by the DFRobotShop Rover’s onboard motor controller.
