Can connect via LynxTerm, but not LynxArmConfig

Hi,

I have the ALD5. I am able to connect to it from LynxTerm and to move the robot by moving the sliders. However, I downloaded the lynx dual arm controller 1.4.01 fired up “Lynx arm config” and it does not seem to connect to the robot or move it.

More details - I started the program, plugged in the serial cable. THe green light on the SSC-32 board never went out (it does via LynxTerm). I went through the config steps which set the name of the robot, gripper type etc. When I came to the step where offsets are selected, when I moved the slider nothing happened (I assume the robot would move). I dont think the program is connected to the board, as the program does not show a firmware number and reads “Not Connected”.

Given that LynxTerm works fine, I dont the problem is my computer, the board or the robot, but rather with the “Dual arm controller” program. A wild guess is that the program is not autodetecting the COM port accurately, but I dont know what to do about that.

Note also, that I shut down and restarted my computer between using the LynxTerm and the dual arm controller programs, incase there was some lock on the serial port.

Ideas anyone?

What is the com port number? The version currently available can’t see ports over com 10. It’s been solved but we need to update the program. We’ll figure it out.

That is it - I am using COM Port 17. How do I pick the COM port to associate with the USB Port? I vaguely recall doing something around this several months back, but dont recall what it was :frowning:

You can normally go into the device manager on your computer and find the communication device for your USB and in the Port Settings page, if you click advanced properties, it will allow you to change the comm port number assigned to that device.
