Can anyone suggest a camera with a 1/2.4" or larger sensor that can be easily interfaced with a PC? I need a camera with prefereably a 1/2.4" 2MB -4MB sensor (at a pinch the AR0230 1/2.7" 2MB would be acceptable) that will connect to a PC to capture 3-5 still photos of a moving object every second over an extended period of several hours, amounting to 20-50,000 thousand individual images.
I expect to have to use a PC for this purpose as experiments elsewhere indicate that a Raspberry Pi would not be able to write that number of images per second to a hard drive or SD card. However you may be able to advise differently. I’m totally new to this area so would appreciate any advice and (polite!) suggestions. Finally, this is a personal project, so total cost is also an important factor.
Thanks
Hello @fotofundi and welcome to the RobotShop community!
I searched for all the USB cameras available in the store and, unfortunately, I couldn’t find one that meets your specifications. Anyway here they are in case you want to check them out:
However, if you use the ArduCAM USB Camera Shield you can easily interface your PC with lots of different camera modules, like the AR0230 1/2.7" 2MP you mentioned.
On the other hand I suggest you investigate other options besides the Raspberry Pi, for example, the Jetson Nano. And other storage options besides a a hard drive or SD card, like a USB3 SSD. These are just suggestions as I don’t have experience handeling that ammount of data. Also you may want to check this blog:

I hope this information can help you
Good luck with your project!
