I am designing a device using a servo (Futaba S3114) that I have never used before and do not have an example in my hands. All I can go by is the drawing included with the description and linked data sheet. The image on the site does not match the image in the linked data sheet. The problem I have is I cannot find the relationship between the mounting holes and the crank center. Also, I cannot find the relationship between the mounting holes and the body of the servo.
I often have to design with off the shelf components using only the drawings and pictures as a reference. Is there some “Standard Micro Servo” mechanical reference I do not know of?
Is there is a standard distance from the mounting holes and the center of the crank arm? If you do not use the mounting holes, but rather the body to mount the servo, is there a standard dimension from the edge of the body to the center of the crank arm?
Also, there is a screw on a tab that is in the drawing but not in all of the photos (see attached files) What is it for? Do I need to have access to it?
Yes, I could buy one and measure it but there are tolerance issues with this approach, and it should be possible to “do it by the numbers”, from either a well-annotated drawing or better yet a CAD model.
If someone can provide me with the missing dimensions (please state the source) I would be happy to contribute a 3D model in the following formats to the Forum:
]SolidWorks 2017 native model/:m]
]Fusion 360 Native model/:m]
]IGES/:m]
]STEM/:m]
]VMRL/:m]
]Autocad DXF format drawing/:m]
]DXF drawing with all the missing information/:m]
Perhaps we can start a database of vetted models for future use, others can contribute their favorite formats.
