The motor did not come with a male 9-pin connector. Can you please point me to the correct cable for me to order so I can connect the motor directly to a PC USB?
The Dynamixel RX-24F Smart Serial Servo includes a 4 pin Cable to connect the servo to the USB to Dynamixel Adapter.
Connect one end of the 4 pin Cable to the servo and the other end to the RS485 connector.
Put the little slide switch on the USB to Dynamixel adapter to RS485 position (not TTL or RS232).
Since the USB port is not able to supply enough power to the Dynamixel servo, the VCC pin on the Adapter is not connected (marked NC on the Adapter). Therefore you should supply power to the servo separately.
]Cut the VCC and GND wires of the cable. Plug the VCC wire from the servo to the (+) of the Barrel Jack to terminal. Plug both of the GND wires (the one from the servo and the one from the USB to Dynamixel Adapter) to the (-) of the Barrel Jack to terminal./:m] ]For this option you will need to purchase an additional 4 pin Cable. Plug the additional 4 pin cable to the 2nd connector on the servo. Cut the VCC and GND of the 2nd cable. Plug VCC in (+) and GND in (-) of the 2.1mm Barrel Jack to terminal./:m]
Then, you can plug the barrel jack of the wall adapter to the 2.1mm Barrel Jack to terminal adapter (the servo will be powered 12V) and plug the USB to Dynamixel Adapter to your USB port on your computer.
The DB9 Connector is intended to use the USB to Dynamixel Adapter as a USB to serial converter (when the switch is on RS232 position).
