Building a drone for a school project

Hello, we want to build a drone for a school project, we already did some research for which to use but we want to another opinion.

Our drone should be able to carry a 1 kg (2,2 lb) load, to move the drone we wanted to try to orientate the propeller instead of increasing or decreasing their thrust, for that we will use stepper motor.
To control it we plan to use a Bluetooth connected Arduino card linked to a cellphone.

Any advice is welcome

Look like a fun project but will require a lot of research to achieve it.
The MultiWii project support bicopter configuration which in fact is two motor with variable speed and those can be tilted too. (here)

thank you for your reply, but the problem is that bicopter are not stable enough and cannot carry much weight, we wanted to build a quadrirotor that can hoist a drink without tipping it

Yes but that was mostly a starting point for your project.
It would be possible to modify the code to do something like you want. Most people will opt for variable pitch propellers instead.

Alright, we will look for a multiwii and see if we can modify the code to meet our expectations, could you advice us some brushles motor that could lift 2,5 kg (5.5 lbs) with a 13’’ propeller ?

That’s going to be hard to achieve at 13" we would recommend going bigger.
For example, HERE is a TMotor with a trust rating of 1.9kg with a 15" propeller running at 6S LiPo battery
