Brushless motor parts and programming

I’ve been toying with an idea to add a bow thruster to my boat. I accidentally ordered some underwater propulsion motors (yes, plural) and now I want to make it happen. Down side, I know automotive electronics pretty well but not this kind of thing. Brushless DC motors are relatively new to the industry except for our tools. I know I need a controller that’s rated for the motors. I would like a self centering joy stick control where center is “off” and left and right respectively. All I have found for reasonably priced controllers have a lower limit on reverse. I need full capability fwd and rev. I am also not looking to make this wireless nor do I want a heavy programming process if removed from power source. It will be hard wired into my boat and only come off for storage or repairs. The motors I have are 30A peak with 17A maintained at not quite full out. Three phase brushless DC and I haven’t figured out what sensor they have in them yet. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello @ThrustWasher!

This could be a good option:

This could be controlled using an Arduino or a RC Transmitter, but as you said you don’t want to either make it wireless or program a lot I think the easiest best opion for you would be using the:

I hope that helps!
