BRAT Jr.

Hey everybody,

I want to build a BRAT Jr. If I buy everything listed under “Hardware” in the Brat Jr. Assembly Guide (it wont allow me to post a link since I’m new) plus a battery pack, will I have EVERYTHING I need as in all screws, washers, nuts, spacers, wire, standoffs, etc., etc.? I don’t have any misc parts lying around so I want to make sure I’ll have everything I need. I’m also thinking of getting a Bot Board + Atom Pro instead of the SSC-32. Will this change any of the parts I need?

Thanks!

Check out the BRAT kits. If you click “more info” you will see exactly what’s included in the kit. Then you just buy the brackets and servos separately to make the Jr. Also check out the BRAT tutorials for some ideas for projects. 8)

Lynxmotion sends you always more than enough screws and other parts that you need to use a bracket.

Thanks, that answers my question! But now I have another one

Could anyone convince my why I should get a BRAT over a Robophilo? Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking the BRAT at all, I think it is awesome and I want one, but I can’t justify spending over $320 (with battery pack and charger) for just a set of legs, when the Robophilo gives me the whole package for just $399. Now I know there is no comparison in quality, but in order to eventually expand the BRAT to a full humanoid, it seems like I would need to replace the servos it comes with anyways. I think the BRAT is so cool in that it is an open platform and you build it from these universal pieces, but it just seems you get so much more for your money with the Robophilo. I know its weak, but looking at the specs, the leg servos have just as much torque as the HS-422, while the feet have even more! How does the Basic Atom Pro compare to the ATMEGA on the Robophilo?

Whatever I start with, I’ll be buying all my upgrades from Lynxmotion because the site is great and the community is great. However, please help sway my decision on this! Thanks
