For right now… Think of these guns as muskets. One shot, probably zero kills.
We’re still working on an ammo hopper of some sort. I’m also toying with the idea of adding in a 4th DoF to the legs. Hip rotation would make the little guy faster by allowing him to take larger steps and make sharp turns. I’d also like to implement torso rotation… But I’m supposed to keep this simple. Maybe later.
Here is an updated image. We’ve replaced the ASB-18’s in lieu of the injection molded base top part. So the guns and camera are all on a rotating “torso”. We have already tested the guns, they are operational. I suspect we may have issues with the camera and the PS2 game controller as they are both 2.4ghz, but we can always find a camera on a different frequency if necessary. Surprised as to how clean this is. We need to add maybe a laser pointer or two, but it’s optional. Note the light bar wrapped around the round base part. Probably voided the warranty, but it’s working. lol James is trying to get it walking now.
That is the coolest mini mech I have seen. It would be nice to see two micro servos to be able to tilt the guns up and down.
Some feedback: I think the battery could use a little better mounting aesthetics. I thought about using two ASB-18’s connected on the bottom part of the channel and connect an ASB-6 to the end of the ASB-18 to form a cradle. Longer screws would be required to pass through ASB-04,ASB-503, and ASB-18. You could also just use one assembly mounted in the middle of the channel and stadard screws could be used.
I hear ya about the tilt for the guns. My conservative nature forces me to hold back and see how this works before committing to the tilt servos. We’ll see…
We already have the ability to alter the tilt in this fashion using the hips of the bot. It’s ok when facing forward. Tilting the guns themselves is the better solution.
Here it is. Fresh up on youtube. It’s just the walking gait for now. We are still working on adding the guns and turret to the PS2 controller. Just code at this stage… 8)
