Bottom half of RoboNova in MRS

I have here the bottom half of a RoboNova in MRS. I did this because I actually need to model the BRAT robot and someone already had the 3D models for the RoboNova. It takes a little bit to install but hopefully I can make it clear. You are going to want to install the media folder into the C:\MRS1.5\store\media. just copy everything from the one into the other. The other part is the the actual C# project used to create the robot. Install this into C:\MRS1.5\samples\SimulationTutorials. Just put the folder there and hopefully when you start it, it will work. If there are any problems let me know. The User interface is designed for another project but can be used with just the simulation. The UI allows you to create positions and place them into a list and then play back that list or save it to a file. Good luck, I don’t know how much support I can give, but I will try.

We have the SES components in 3D if you want to create the BRAT 3D model. Just incase…

I think I still have my complete 3D model of the BRAT. I hope I still have it, since I will be needing it again. I can recreate it if necessary though.

I need to model some batteries as well as wheels and tires.

Please send it to Beth if you can find it. She will put it on the website.

I will do that if I still have it. Otherwise, I will recreate it and then send the new model.

I’ve been working on it, while using those parts listed on that site for the past two days. I have the frame of the robot modeled and moving in MRS. I need to decide if I want to add the servos to it and the servo controller. I’m not going to model them in the physics engine bust just display the image of them.

Cool! Thanks for the effort. If you would be willing to share your work with us we could host the info. I’m sure this work will help many people!

It turns out it was the Scout, not BRAT, I was thinking of. I do still have my 3D models of the Scout legs. However, I am not sure my 3D assemblies would be useful to anyone else. They would pretty much have to be using my exact models, including subassemblies, which I have a lot of. My subassemblies have subassemblies where appropriate and I reuse them extensively.

I have started creating a model of the BRAT though, but believe I have uncovered another problem with the 3D SES models. I think the dimensions of both the ASB-04 and/or ARF-02 are not right. I can create new models, but need data. I would like to start working on a brand new set of 3D SES models created from exact part dimensions. This will hose all my current 3D SES assemblies, but I want to know I am working with exact models.

I emailed you the files.

Got them. I just have to copy them over to Windows and reboot.

I’ve ran into another slight issue, the servo model that is posted on that page doesn’t seem to be to the same scale as the rest of the robot. With all other parts I could position them and get them into a good looking manner. But with the servos they seem to be way too large.

The existing 3D servo model aligns and mates perfectly with the existing ASB-04 bracket model. I am in the process of making a new ASB-04 model, and will make any necessary adjustment to the servo model that may require. I created the current 3D servo model.

I could be wrong, I’ll try it again tomorrow. I scaled down all of the sizes of things within MRS. I’ll try again, but seeing as it is Thanksgiving, I need to go an watch Christmas Vacation. Like I previously said, the model isn’t going to be perfect, but it should give some people the basic idea if they want to make a better one using MRS.
