Over the last couple of months I have not been typing very much or that much experimenting with with my robots. Hopefully that will change over time…
So during this time I have done some more reading. Mostly Science Fiction, but I am also part way through another book that I thought some others might find interesting.
It is “Wired For War - The robotics revolution and the conflict in the 21st century” by P.W. Singer. It talks about some of the history of robotic systems in war, the current state or the robotics in warfare and where things might be going. I first heard about this book when the author was on the radio show “Coast to Coast”. I am maybe a third of the way through the book now and it will probably take me another month or two to finish.
So far I find the book interesting. It talks about a lot of interesting things like the different generations of spy airplanes and the different levels of complexity. It is slow reading for me as it was written by a think tank type of person, but it is approachable.
It also talks about the different ground vehicals and the like from the packbot, to more advanced one and talks with some of the primary people like the ones from Romba and the like.
Yay Kurt! you have been elevated to the status of Robot Guru! We really do appreciate your contribution to the forum. We’re not the biggest forum out there, but I think we are one of the best. Thanks for everything.
