Hi Guys,
A few months ago I posted on this forum asking for advice on servo reliability, Thank you CBenson for your feedback.
For those who didn’t see the post, I’m currently working for a company called Rusty Squid that does interactive technology and installations, among other things.
We have been commissioned by our local council to build an installation in the Bristol Central Library as part of their 400 Year Anniversary.
For this we are building interactive walls covered in 400 animatronic books.
Since that post we have had two months of hard work to go from concept to Installing in the library.
We have the first 100 books in and running, with the remaining 300 being installed in January.
Here are two videos showing it operating
Rusty Squids Teaser Trailer & Bristol Council Video
When we are finished we will have a grand total of:
x400 servos
x40 servo controllers
x20 power supplies
x3 computers
x8 Kinect style sensors
x4 Wide angle webcams
x32 USBs
1.2km of servo extension cables
And “in theory” all that can be run off of a single 13A plug…
Fun!
Our site is: rustysquid.co.uk
On the home page is an interactive squid.
I have been coding the squid for about 6 months.
I have very little experience with graphical programming so I have been focusing on movement and behavior.
There are a few emotions that we have tried to implement, but its interesting trying to work out what a happy, sad or an angry squid should look like??
Hope you guys enjoy.
Merry Christmas,
Cheers,
Rob
