BM IDE failing on Windows 7?

Hi, I’ve been attempting to get BM studio up and running again now that summers back, and the new version will not work on my new Windows 7 installation, Its 64 bit. I’ve also tried it on another windows 7 machine with the same issue: After the studio and drivers are installed(manually and with the installer program) I open the studio, and the ComPort selection dropdown has dozens of blank spots. I cannot select a ComPort because there is nothing to click on. When I hit connect, the program gives an improper argument error.

I had this working last summer, and I’d like to have a legacy version of this program to see if it will work; Do you know which version was current at around August-september last year?

(of course any fix or info on what I’m doing wrong would also be appreciated)

I have not tried it yet on a window 7 64 bit machine. I installed 32 bit Windows 7 on my main machine… But do have a new portable that I believe is the 64 bit install and may try it there…

Have you gone through the steps shown in the thread on the Basic Micro forum: forums.basicmicro.net/atompro-f4 … t9359.html

When you installed BM Studio, did you select to install as administrator?
I have it running a Win 7 Sp1 BMS Ver 2.0.0.9 without any issues

Also My IDE would show blanks a since i dont have any serial ports on my Motherboard
and my usb to serial cable wasn’t connected

FYI - I just installed build 2.0.0.11 on an HP portable with Win7/64 bit. It did not like the Basic Micro drivers, so I followed the steps mentioned in the post by Nathan (Acidtech) on how to load the original FTDI drivers and it now works. My previous post here has a link to the Basic Micro Forums link with the info. There is also a sticky post in this forum as well.

Note: Since Nathans posts on this, FTDI has released updated drivers with a new version number, so you will need to browse in the download section for the appropriate VCP driver file

does work for me as well
