Bluno Nano

I recently bought a Bluno Nano. It ticked all the boxes for small form factor and built-in Bluetooth… or so I thought…

I have spent ages trying to use it with Windows Remote Arduino.
I can use the visual studio libs to talk to the Bluno via USB, but no luck with Bluetooth. The Windows Remote Arduino Experience App on my Windows Phone can’t see the Bluno either https://www.dfrobot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I posted on the DfRobot forum and got this reply.

“So sorry, for some reasons, so far, our ble series product dont support to connect other ble product, only support our own ble product and our own app”

Isn’t BLE a standard ? Surely if it implements BLE it should be able to talk to other BLE kit ?

So a number of questions…

Is there a work-around?

Does RobotShop have good enough relationship with DfR to persuade them to fix this with a firmware update ? (it’s such a cool piece of kit… just a shame I can’t get I to work:()

Can you recommend a suitably tiny alternative so that I can move on with my stalled Arduino BLE project ?

Sorry for ranting… and help greatly appreciated

Hi,

We have contacted DFRobot about this. We will let you know how it goes.
Did you try with the latest firmware ?
Apparently, the only app that works with Bluno is the App developed by DFRobot.

Hi Brahim

Yes that’s what they told me too.

But on the MS IoT Git github.com/ms-iot/remote-wiring/

There is a reference to "Added DF Robot BLE Serial ", which obviously sounds like it’s doable, but unfortunately the repository owners have yet to get back to me to explain how it’s used.

Hi,

Here the reply of DFRobot :
