My classmates and I are having problems with getting our bluetooth device to recognize our “blueSmirf” board. Could anyone please send your suggestions?
Another question is do we NEED to purchase the exact bluetooth “dongle” that the build recommends? The semester is almost over and we are running out of time. PLEASE HELP!!!
Lets start with something simple…
What is the BlueSmirf connected to? SSC-32, BB2?
If you can, take a picture of your wiring. It would really help alot.

I know sparkfun has changed the dongle a few times over the years, so I doubt there is anything special about them.
If time is so important may I recommend you contact sparkfun tech support. They are the manufacturer of the bluesmirf and should be able to help you.
I think I had the same issue some time ago. My bluetooth dongle couldn’t find (or connect) to the BlueSmirf. I replaced the bluetooth dongle with a decent one and it worked.
Did you try another bluetooth dongle? Or even another PC?

Mine works fine with a Kensington dongle. Have you tried to connect another blue tooth device (like a cell phone) to make sure the dongle is working properly?
